What is Reiki?
Reiki pronounced “Ray-Kee” is a Japanese word. Rei meaning ‘Universal Wisdom’ and Ki meaning ‘Life Force’. Reiki can be used to help physical, emotional, mental, spiritual healing and balance. It is not connected to any religious or belief system and is one of the easiest and most effective methods of natural healing for both humans and animals. Reiki is a connection between the healer and the Universal Life Force Energy. A safe, gentle and non-intrusive hands-on or off healing technique for balancing, healing and harmonising, body, mind, emotions and spirit.
Reiki is believed to have first been used by Tibetan monks many thousands of years ago, only to be rediscovered by Dr Mikao Usui (1865-1926) in the late 19th century. Dr Usui researched many different forms of healing, medicine and religions and spent 21 days meditating which led to his enlightenment and profound awakening as Reiki energy entered his mind, body and soul.
Dr Usui then treated and trained others to use Reiki. By the time of his death he had attuned 18 Reiki Masters. Thus creating a modern Reiki lineage that can be traced back to Dr Usui.
